EAST CENTRAL
ILLINOIS July 8, 9, 10, 2010 The East Central Illinois SHOP HOP is coming! The East Central Illinois Hop is exciting in itself, but this year the event is even more thrilling because a portion of the sales of the quilt blocks will be donated to combat Ovarian Cancer. Your purchase of a prepaid block will help aid in the survival of 25,000 women who will be diagnosed with this life-threatening disease this year alone. Quilt block kits may be pre-purchased for $66.00 - which will reserve all 12 kits plus the finishing instructions, a silk-screened commemorative quilt label for you quilt, and a color fabric key chart. To assure receiving all 12 kits, a pre-pay of $66.00 for the kits and $5.00 for the passport (a total of $71.00) must be paid before June 8th at any participating shop. During the SHOP HOP only, you'll pick-up your pre-paid kits at each shop when your passport is validated. After the SHOP HOP, you'll not be assured your kits. In addition to offering passports and block kits for adults, we are selling Jr. Passports to generate interest in quilting for the next generation. Passports are $5.00 for both the adults and juniors. Jr. Passport holders will have a separate drawing from the completed passports with the winner receiving a huge basket filled with sewing notions and goodies. Shop-Hoppers can purchase multiple passports for friends and family before the hop, but we will validate only one passport per person per visit. The passport holder must be present in order to receive a stamp. No one will be able to bring several passports to be validated for any reason. If passports are prepaid, the "hopper" will be able to pick up the pre-paid kit: however, those passports will not be validated. "Hoppers" will get their passports validated at each
shop and receive a goodie bag, a chance for a door prize,' a quilt block
pattern, and be able to register for a $25.00 gift certificate. Each shop
will have a different block available for $5.50 with fabric from Blank Quilting.
This year, the quilting projects by each of the twelve shops are based on
a challenge to use the Blank Quilting Ovarian Cancer fabric and will be offered
for the raffle. Last year, we were able to send a check for over $6500.00
to Breast Cancer Research. This year, we hope to be able to provide at least
as much support to Ovarian Cancer research.
